Flamenco: the Land Is Still Fertile-All 4 Epi-UNIV

We filmed this feature documentary (one hour, 45 minutes long) in Spain, in and near the city of Jerez de la Frontera, part of the "cradle of flamenco." It includes 16 solos from world-class performers; fascinating interviews; a wonderful narrative by flamenco singer Antonio de la Malena; a bit of video from India (where gitanos - Spanish Gypsies - originated) and other material. This version is, essentially, the four half-hour episodes that are airing over PBS put together as one cohesive whole.

Soloists include Antonio el Pipa, Diego del Morao, Tía Juana la del Pipa, la Macanita, María del Mar Moreno, Niño Jero el Periquín, and of course Antonio de la Malena.

The documentary, divided into sections, has aired over national television in the United States and screened in prestigious locations in Spain.
